The Experience
The plateau above Tromsø is accessible by snowmobile from December to April, when the snow pack is stable. The routes cover terrain between 400 and 900 metres above sea level: open fjell, frozen lakes, and birch forest below the tree line.
No prior snowmobile experience is required. The safety briefing and driving tuition take approximately 30 minutes before departure. The guide leads from the front; the pace adjusts to the group.
The Routes
Standard routes are 3–4 hours and include a stop at a heated wilderness cabin for a hot meal. Longer expeditions are available on request and can include overnight stays in remote cabins. The guide selects the route based on snow conditions and group ability.
Season
December to April, with the best snow conditions typically in February and March. Expeditions run in all weather except during active blizzards.
